Weekend Chores Around The House and Yard With My Children

Another weekend filled with yard work and a little repair here and there around the house. I will try my best to make it fun and have it done as quickly as possible, with help of my two children, ages ten and twelve. With their energy it should be interesting to see the outcome.

I will start by repainting the facia board of the house before the sun gets too hot. Early mornings are always best and since I am an early riser I will tackle it right away. Finally after months of peeling paint I am about to give it the touch it it so badly needs. My son will help me by stirring and pouring out the paint for me. Learning on the job is what I call it so when his time comes he knows what to do.

After this task is completed we will tackle the lawn with the lawn mower and hope to have it done by mid day. Upon cutting and hedging my son will grab the hopper and fertilise the lawn so that it keeps its thick texture and beautiful, green looks for the next thirty days. Not too bad for a Saturday task on his part. He gets to see the fruit of his work in a week or two as the grass turns greener and begin to grow.

My daughter loves to dabble int stuff like this, but I prefer her to help us keep fresh by serving us cold lemonade, water and snacks while we work. Working in the hot sun, it's important to keep hydrated. Being the ten year old, little girl that she is, she would enjoy her task, even though she would love to do much more.

All in all, we are going to have fun as we go about our work day sprucing up the house and yard. At the end of the day we will take pictures to capture our days work and enter them into the family scrap book for keep sake. Someday we will come back and reflect upon this and so many other fun days doing chores around the house and yard.

Halloween parties are also exciting with the kids showing off their elaborate and most popular costumes. One of my favorite is decorating the yard, it's something I enjoy each year with help from my kids. Break out the pumpkins and all the Halloween decorations from last year and beautify your yard. Hurricane Isaac: Palm Beach School Closes Due To Flooding

  Hurricane Isaac brings a wet day across Palm Beach, FL; causes the closure of all schools. Along with dumping of 14 inches of rain is expected and flash flooding across the county, which means no school today. The kids will stay at home today allowing them to sleep in late, enjoy a movie or catch up with some extra home work. It boils down to an extended weekend break for the kids.

 

Too wet to be outside but extra comfy to be inside to watch a movie, play video games or do some home work. This day brings lots of joy and excitement to most kids, knowing that they have an extra day of break from the grind of another school day. There's always something fun to do, never short of something exciting.

Fun Fishing With the Kids On The Lake

One of our greatest past time, fishing and enjoying it. Fishing is something I always enjoyed eventhough I haven't caught many fishes in my lifetime. It's a passion my kids have come to develop over the years since moving into a home on a lake.

The kids and their friends would go fishing on the lake for hours at a time, coming up empty handed. This past weekend my nine year old daughter visited my moms house and went fishing there on the lake. To my surprise she told me she caught ten or eleven fishes, of those three were BIG. As you can see below one of her fishes in the picture. Pretty crafty for a little girl, she has caught more fish in one day than I have caught in a lifetime. She did this with only a fishing rod and bread for bait.

I was quite surprised and told her how proud I was of her and her knack for catching fish. She really enjoys this and goes often for hours on the lake catching fish. It's a skilled developed over time. She tends to catch more fish than her friends and her brother. Makes me want to go out there and compete with her. As a matter of fact I may go out there and try my fishing pole this weekend.

Fishing can be fun and relaxing, nothing more exciting than feeling a bite and reeling in a catch. Take your kids, friends or someone you love fishing this weekend. It makes something to do exciting this summer. Stay cool by drinking lots of fluids and put on a hat and start fishing away. I am ready to go fishing, are you ready?
